Great news! My walk across America will continue on the 17th of this month. I have experienced no ongoing complications from my injuries, and I look forward to continuing with my journey. Because I want to be careful I plan to continue my walk starting in Missouri on the Katy Trail, at the trail head near Jefferson City. I am doing this for several reasons. First, the towns along the Katy Trail are much closer together, and I will be able to stop more frequently and get quality rest when I need to. Secondly, the Katy trail is a broad gravel road that winds towards Kansas, and is fairly flat for most of the 150 plus miles that I will be on it. This will allow me to slowly get used to walking long distances before I once again enter Kansas. Although I will be over a month behind, I think this is the safest way to get my body acclimated to walking long distances again in very warm conditions.
After careful consideration I have decided to purchase a much lighter cart made of aluminum tubing and covered in canvas. I will have a few modifications to make, but I feel confident in the overall quality of the cart, and believe it will last for the remainder of my trip. The difficulty I encounter with pulling the weight of my last cart through the many mountains of Arkansas and Missouri without a doubt added to my eventual health problems. Because I have a much better idea of what I need to carry on a trip like this I will be carrying far less than I originally did. Carrying a lighter load will not only be easier on my body, but it should allow me to walk longer distances each day.
During my brief time off I have had time to update my website, and to add a full community website that will not only make it easier for me to keep everyone updated as I walk, but will also make it easier for you to communicate with me and each other. You can now easily create your own page, both personal and business, ask questions, leave comments, write articles, upload pictures and video, join or start a group, join forums and much more. I believe this site will be a great addition to what we already have in place, and I look forward to getting your feedback on it.
In addition to our new community website I have decided to start designing websites again as a way to help with the financing of my journey. If you need a new website, or you know someone that does, I would love to have the opportunity to show you what I can do. You will find my pricing to be much lower than the average design company, and the quality of my work second to none. Not only will you be getting a great looking website, you will be making it financially feasible for me to continue with my walk across America. I will also be accepting online donations from individuals and businesses who are willing to sponsor my walk across America. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for me, and I look forward to hearing from you soon and to beginning my walk again next week!
Always Onward I Walk,
